Buggy Blast Break Downs

Postby David Head » Fri May 30, 2008 2:30 pm

If I remember right, we had four break downs last weekend. Two on the Saturday cruise and two on the Sunday cruise.

Saturday----electrial problems and ?????????
Sunday------blown oil line and bad bearings.

Are we all fixed now??????????

I think I'm going to start a tradition that I have seen in California:
We should have a Trophy called the "Break Down" trophy. Whatever buggy has the most trouble at an event Wins. They maintain ownership of this award until the next club event. At that time, they can pass along their award to the next unlucky break down buggy. Of course they would have to attend the event in order to give the award away.

It's all in Fun.

Any thoughts?

The buggy I loaded up and hauled back in was fuel filter related. But it was fixed up and running again fine by Sunday.

Sounds like a great idea, David. I'll chip in on the trophy.

If the then current holder of the BDT doesn't attend, they have to be out the postage to get the trophy to somone going to the event, or send it by someone attending. (Just one idea)

Also, I guess officially sanctioned events have to be established for the BDT. :)

Any other ideas out there :?:

I will buy the trophy and get to keep it all the time.
I am 2 for 2
Fredricksburg - Clutch Cable
Salado - Wheel Bearings
Sounds like a great idea. I will buy a BIG ONE.
We could buy a gold plated tow rope for the award.
I'm going to start having my own personel sweeper vehicle.

Sorry to hear about your troubles mike,

Just a thought:

Why not do a winter check up of all the mechanical coponents before going to an event. The only trouble I evere had was the D-MM ignition switch I got talked to installing when I built my last buggy. It would always fail the night before I left for an event! Da-- YOu Walmart and your chinese made boat switch. My new buggy is going to have good stuff put in it from the word go. My whole new engine is brand new tested parts and not some cheap stuff. My entire chassis and components are going to be matched.

I have not put the story up on Neal's corner yet due to time off for Kidney failure but the pages will be up very soon. I hope it will help

Neal ;-)
