Classic - Who and When

Postby CoryN » 06 Wed Apr, 2011 1:51 pm

Ok - its probably close enough now that most should know their plans.

Who is going? When are you going? and Where are you going to be?

I'll start, assuming I get my motor this week/weekend and get get everything reassembled, I am planning on heading down Thursday evening if there will be some of you all there, or else early Friday morning. I'm going to tent camp at Lady Bird.

Going Friday afternoon. Staying at a B&B that is behind the Nimitz Museum. I forget the name. Hopefully the Buggy issues will be worked out by then.

FRIDAY CRUISE?
Is anyone that will be in town interested a a cruise to Johnson City on Friday? I'm thinking of making that run either on Ranch Roads there and back, or on 290 there and Ranch Roads back.

But, it's not something I care to do alone, so I wondered if anyone else would be interested?

Likewise, if someone has something better in mind, I'm sure open to that also.

Well it looks like my tow vehicle fell through  so the buggy will not be going to the Classic. The wife and I will still be going though as we both need a sorely needed vacation from everyday life. We'll try and stop by the Mancave for a Beer and glass of wine. See ya there. 8-)

Well I just got back from the inspection place. Flying colors.

But I do have an issue, I took the front shocks off because they were bottoming out, I cannot drive it this way, its way too bouncy.

So if I can't find something shorter locally tonight, I guess I'll be looking like a gasser. I'll have to pull the front back up and put the old shocks back on.

I may have my problem solved. Thanks for the offer Chris. I also have a tow bar but it would need to be modified to fit the Berrien chassis mounting points. Besides the S-10 does not have AC and momma wouldnt ride to Fredericksburg in a car without AC
Also thanks Bryan for the phone call. I was really busy at the time.

FRIDAY CRUISE I'm posting this up so I don't miss someone once I'm in Fredericksburg.
Anyone who would like to join me for a cruise to Johnson City Friday can meet me at the Howard Johnson Motel (former Holiday Inn) parking lot at 9:30 AM Friday morning.

We'll take 290 out for town to RR 1631 to RR 2721 to RR 1320 to FM 1323 to US 281 north of Johnson City. Then about 3 miles south into downtown.

There's a pretty neat restaurant in an old cottom mill and some shops to snoop, etc. Then most likely we'll back track the way we came or take 290 back.

It looks like about a 38 mile one way trip.

CRUISE: I got to thinking (A Dangerous Thing :D ). A lot more folks are coming in on Friday than Thursday.

Soooo, if there is some interest in cruising to Johnson City on Saturday instead of Friday, I'm sure game to do that. I know Bryan plans to cruise with the Show Cruise and I'm sure not trying to take away or compete with that cruise. It's just that I don't usually do that cruise, so perhaps if more people would be interested we could do the Johnson City thing on Saturday.

I'm planning to roll out in the morning and would like to hear from some folks before I leave.

Let me know what you think. OK :?:

We won't be rolling in until sometime Saturday morning. With that said, obviously we would be more interested in hearing any Saturday plans.
We will start hollering at y'all when we get close, hoping to get behind someone, going somewhere...

Sandy and I will be arriving in the early afternoon and will be dragging along brother in law Danny, and sister MaryAnn; she cannot wait to have a buggy!!! Guys, we really need to work on Danny while he's there. If there is a short cruise in the afternoon Saturday please let us know, and if someone needs a "rider", MaryAnn and Danny are two candidates that are likely to become future club members! Danny's optimistic, he just needs to get a taste of what we all enjoy so much. They are staying with us at the HJ, where Bill and Linda are.

See you then!

So, as to a Saturday cruise to Johnson City?: Is anyone up for that and what would be a good time? I'm not at all married to 9:30 am.

Hey Richard, we've got Danny as a captive audience at the Howard Johnson. By the time we are throught with him this weekend he'll be getting a buggy by Monday. And, I also have an open seat for he or your sister.

I also like Bryan's idea of a Sunday after 5:00 cruise. Count me in.

Also, the meet time is 10 am at the Howard Johnson Motel (formerly Holiday Inn).

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Man cave for a visit :D :D A special thanks to our fellow campers. Maybe next year a few more folks can camp with us at the campground.

We enjoyed every minute of our time in Fredericksburg. Was there a car show in town? Had so much fun the show is just taking a back-seat to the rest of the weekend. Like Staggerwing said can't stop thinking about them good steaks, but wait what about the biscuits and gravy, oh and Texas shaped pecan pancakes with bacon, and the breakfast tacos not to mention Brian's secret recipe for Rita's but it's not really a secret just like the secret pockets on his dune buggy..... he tells everyone!!!!

We were blessed with great weather this year. Quite a difference from last year and we were very thankful that a lot of buggy cruise weather was sent our way. We found some great new roads on Monday, we will have to try all of those next year.....
