Falling in line with a social buggy gathering more than a structured show, after talking with a few folks and my personal love of the hill country and river floating I have come up with a proposed event for Third weekend of June 2011 and would like to make this an annual event. A Fri-Sun event in the beautiful township of Gruene Texas right next to New Braunsfels Tx. I have been in contact with the Chamber there and they are sending me lots of info I will post up if we have enough intrest. Total family event with buggies, friends, family, a cruise, show, floating the river in tubes or rafts, shopping for the ladies. Wine tasting, great food and you can visit the oldest Dance Hall in Texas and boot scoot the night away. What do you folks think? Let me hear your thoughts! Simple fun time together, relaxin in shorts chilling under shade trees beside the river.

I went to a street rod event there, and it was great. There is a lot of shade and plenty of stuff to do. Count us in.

Good to hear of the intrest in another venue for us to all get together. Here is a little more info for everyone to look at and think about in the coming months. I will wait to season begins next year before selecting the best accomodations that can handle the group, trailers and a fun loving bunch of folks! Just click on any of the slide show pictures to stop it so you can read up on the history of the town of Gruene or check out the maps. :lol:

Ok folks with this warm weather, just want to see who all is still up for a wet and wild weekend? I am still looking at third weekend in June dates proposed are Friday June 17th, 18th and 19th. Water should be flowing good hopefully for the floaters and get in before the 4th of July crowds. Oh and Bill, we all still need to make that pre-run early next year and do a little scouting.

Bobby, I'm still game for the pre-run.
One of the challenges may be lodging in Gruene. When I was thinking of making a run from Rosenberg to Gruene I'm thinking most of the stuff was pretty expensive. But hopefully, the Chamber's information will show us something that will work well.

Just looked at the calender for 2011 and our proposed dates of June 17th,18th and 19th and realized June 19th is fathers day. Would that be a conflict with anyone wanting to attend?

Ok here are the dates we will work on from here out folks. June 24th, 25th and 26th. Bill and some others who had expressed intrest in a pre-scout-planning-trip early 2011 shoot me an email and I will lay out a few dates and we can work off those so we can scout out some places to stay and talk to a few to get some rate breaks. We will also look for camp grounds near-by Yoboy.

Anyone have any conflicts with the dates June 24th-26th? We are going to make a run next week and do a little scouting the area. Also would anyone be intrested in event T-Shirts? I can get a limited run of some cool ones, they would be pre-order and paid and would be sold at actual cost and pickup at the event. Also to keep lodging costs reasonable maybe at hotel in town as bed and breakfast or cabins typically run $200-$500 a night in the Historical Gruene area but nearby New Braunsfels is very close, less than the Comfort to Boerne run. But for those wanting to camp or stay in Gruene I can provide a lot of great places to stay. I will post some updated information next week.

Ok Folks Wet and Wild Lodging. I am working with the manager to block 10 rooms. They have a total of 20 rooms for that weekend and going to see if he can block 10 of them for us. Things are really filling up fast. So contact me before booking your room. I will post once the room block is set with instructions on how to secure yours. Rooms during summer months will run around $100-$120 a night.

Not much response on shirts so I wont worry about trying to get some done for this trip. If you guys / gals are intrested in a river trip still please let me know by posting here. Just made the drive from Gruene through River Road up to Satler area, boy what a fantastic drive.

Anyone wanting to camp ya really better book now. I checked and everycamp ground I checked was booked for the weekends already almost the entire summer. Sure you can find something off the river still but I would book it quick. Not a lot of intrest so for in the block of rooms so it will be book them on your own folks and they are going fast so book one if ya want it quickly. I am going to book ours in just a few minutes.

Hi Bobby,
I'm sure we will be around for some buggy riding on this weekend. Although driving River Rd on a busy summer weekend during the day will mean more parking then driving, but there are lots of roads in the areas that could offer additional nice cruising. But the scenery won't be nearly as fun to watch... if you know what I mean... ha, but of course you do...

Won't need a room, since we are in the area, but awesome that you could block something in the area at this time. If anyone needs a room, they should be jumping on this before time runs out.

Of course, this is all pending I can "KEEP MY STEERING WHEEL THROUGH HE CLASSIC AND THE BLAST!!!!!"

Great and got confimation on a few others going to make it as well! Glad you and the family will join us Ken. I will be in touch with you to get some ideals from you locals for sure. Yeah it really fills up in the summer but will be a great trip and something a little different. The ladies have lots of places to shop, good food and things for the kids and even big kids love the river floating, tubes, raft, or kayaks it is all a great time. Hope Staggering Wing can make it also.

This event is still one for anyone wanting to attend this social gathering of buggy nuts and families. Bring them buggies out and bring on the rain with them! LOL Chris ya need to bring Shrek and it will surely rain! The green flake long body of Troy M will make its first appearance after about a 60 day build time! Hope some of you can join us and we will catch the rest another time friends.

You might check on the river condition, I heard on TV that there wasn't any water flow, or very little at that point of the river. You may have to settle for just a "Wild" weekend.

Water park Friday, Sat meet up at Crackerbarrel 09:00 off HWY 35 for breakfast. Then a slow easy scenic cruise up river road which follows the Guadualpe River that is lined with canyons , maybe stop for a few pictures and contiune down past the horse shoe, stop off in Sattler area for drinks and restroom stop and possible loop around Canyon lake and lunch. Then head back down river road and hit Gruene for a great dinner at a location to be decided by the group such as the Gristmill, The Gruene River Cafe or Green Door which is a fairly new place that has a great menu or many other great locations to eat. While in Gruene if anyone wants they can walk into the oldest operating dance hall in Texas Gruene Hall. The place is a historical piece of Texas and a place to visit. Have a few buggies committed so far so anyone wanting to join us send me an email me, email in signature. Lets have a great time. It will not be good time for a river float due to low water flow with dry weather but the water park is best in Nation so meet us Friday and bring the kiddos or come as a couple or alone, just love to see everyone! And should be rooms availble with the river flow low if anyone needs one, most if not all camp grounds are booked.

We went over looking for this crew mid day Saturday. We fully expected not to cross their path, but heading down River Road and BAM there they are. We cruise with them for a couple hours, up and down River Road and through New Braunfels. Wound up at Canyon Lake dam overlook and thats where I got my one and only picture. I'm sure others will post more when they get home. We had a great time, but it was cut short, because I was still having throttle issues.
