Ray T. will post more details as soon as he has them for both the toy run and the parade.
Last year we made 3 stops on the toy run on Saturday morning. We needed 1 wrapped toy, 1 unwrapped toy and then some items for the last stop which was a shelter.
For the parade this year we have some small toys, etc. for the kids. Not sure if they allow candy to be thrown out at this one.
Here are some details for the Santa Fun Run and Marshall Parade December 12:
We will meet at the Love's Truck Stop at Exit 3 I-20 in Greenwood, La @ 8:00 and leave no later than 9:00 - we have to be in Bossier City at the Sonic by 9:30 because the Santa Fun Run will be starting at 10:00. I need a head count as to who will be participating so that we don't leave anyone behind that might be running a little late that morning. For the 1st stop - a new wrapped toy or clothes with a tag indicating for a boy or girl and what age. For the 2nd stop - new unwrapped toy and for the 3rd and final stop (which is the Shreveport/Bossier Resuce Mission) anything you would like to donate- new or used items- toys, clothes, personal hygiene items - all unwrapped. Thank you all in advance for participating. Believe me, this definetly warms your heart to see what a little kindness will do to help others. Decorations on your cars is not required, but feel free to do so - Russell got to lead the cruise last year because his car looked so good!
Once the Santa Fun Run is over, we will decide when /where we meet before the Marshall Parade. We ususally meet at the Walmart on Hwy 59 in Marshall to finish up decorations. And remember to bring warm clothing - cuz you never know what kind of weather we will have !!!! I think we all got a bit cold last year during the Santa Fun Run!!!
Thanks again and I know we are going to have a blast again.
Give me a call, I can help you out with a trailer.
Most of us are booked for Fri & Sat night at
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites
500 I-20 EAST
MARSHALL, TX 75670
Telephone: 903-934-9700
The hotel is not far from the Walmart where we decorated the cars for the parade last year.
We will be going down sometime on Friday and coming back on Sunday morning.
Agree 100% with Mello Yello - once you do this event you will be hooked...
Wildthang,
We plan on doing to Toy Run on Saturday morning. We will meet you at the Love's.
If everyone staying at the hotel agrees we can go together as a group to meet at the Love's. We will trailer the cars to the meeting place.
Christie and Russell will not be able to make the Toy run and Marshall Parade, so everyone have a lot of fun for us too. My wife's treatment is not going as well as we would of liked it so she will not be able to make the long trip. Hope to see everyone soon and I will pray for good weather and someone else will have to lead the best Dune Buggy Club on the toy run this year.
Just to let y'all know that there is a 50% chance of rain on Saturday morning . If it is raining and cold, we are going to do the Santa Toy Run in our personal vehicles (trucks instead of buggies) The rain is supposed to be gone by the afternoon, so we are still planning on doing the Marshall Parade.
We will be happy to have anybody that can make it. We will have a great time no matter the weather because this is all about putting smiles on the kids and families faces that could really use the true spirit of the season . Russell and Cristy our hearts go out to you . We want you to know we understand but your holiday spirit will be with us . Merry Christmas Ray
We had a great time at the Toy Run & Parade yesterday although the weather was to say the least not cooperative with our plans. We did get the parade in and the kids along the parade route really enjoyed the decoarated buggies and the goodies we all were handing out.
Wildthang and family thanks for putting this together and inviting us to take part.
Mello Yello we really missed you guys and hope things are going well.
We hope everyone will put this event on their calendars next year. It's a great opportunity to give toys, clothes, etc. to a bunch of needy families and children who might not receive a gift on Christmas.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the Texas Manx Club a very Merry Christmas!
Fantastic job guys and gals. Pictures are outstanding. Your fine representation of the Manx club is appreciated and greatly adds to the Marshall Christmas experience for everyone. Wish I had been there. Next year?? MERRY CHRISTMAS to all from Johnny and Loretta
