this is the pshaw I've been dreading

it's wiring time and after all day wiring and looking at the diagram I have admitted defeat, at least for today.

I don't get it I wired an entire mustang and never had the problems I have had with this thing.

I'm using a battery bypass switch with key which all works fine, but it's wired to a toggle then jumped to a push button start, when I lift the toggle the engine turns over with pushing the push button start.

then I get all the lights wired up and start flipping switches to find my tail lights wont light up. then I remember there's no bulbs so I go to my wifes mustang and take her bulbs out and put them in the buggy and stilll no light, then the light in my head goes off there's no ground to the tail light so when I ground the tail lights and flip the switch on and pow there's go the fuse then the turn signal and another fuse blows

so tomorrow I'll start tracing and try and figure it out.

Mike

I have no advice, just questions.

I will be wiring my restor project soon. Are you using some type of kit?

If not, are you using a wiring diagram of some sort or just good old common sense.

I have one of the DB wiring kits that everyone sells. I am hoping it will be correct if I follow the diagram. If not, I may be in the same boat you are right now.

Only time will tell. Hope you get yours figured out and if so, please let us know the remedy you came up with.

isint this fun lol
take your time dont try and wire the thing in a day
try and follow the diagam as close as posible
get all the main harness set up then go back and ad things in line
as needed
dont forget everything on a buggy needs a ground wire to the chassie
its kinda intimidating at first but you get the hang of it after awhile

like I said take a break from it and then go back its allot easer that way

as for the bag o wire it works great as long as your doing a baisc install with no frils and using stock beetle parts the further you get from basic stock the more involved it becomes

I would highly
sugest asking specific request
on this site as well as dune-buggy.com in buggy tak section
one question at a time
they got a bunch of electric gurus over there with wiring diagrams for almost all aplications
they were a life saver for me

did a quick search and came up with this
