Early Model Oil Cooler

Postby johber41 » 10 Sun Feb, 2013 2:04 pm

Can anyone advise me regarding my oil cooler. 1961 1200 CC engine, and the oil cooler appears to be a made of some copper or brass and some steel. Is it OK to paint these, minus the mounting face, before re-installation? Will the paint have a negative affect on its ability to cool? I do not want to insulate it! But it appears that it may have been painted black in the past.

Thanks,

John

A quick coat of rustoleum will not hurt. Now if you were ragging the pshaw out of the motor then you may want to pass. But like you said if you buy a new one it is painted.

Thanks Brian. Just want to give it some protection from corrosion before re-install.
