Manx Spare Tire Mounting Bracket

Postby Viking74 » 19 Wed Dec, 2012 8:58 am

Hello,
This is my first time posting as a new member. I recently purchased buggy that turned out to be a Manx clone. I plan on making it a daily driver after a restoration, and want to carry a spare tire. Does anyone have the original bracket that came with the Manx kit, that is not being used and want to sell it? Or even a picture of the bracket would be helpful. I checked with Winnie Meyers and thay don't have any of the 1960's hardware. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Dale

Check this link to the Manx Club site

Scroll down and there are some pictures of the mount in a very early Manx.

I've never seen a buggy actually using a spare behind the seat in a Manx. They take up too much room and dont allow the seat to slide back. The only buggies with spares are the off road group and most times they do like Bryan said and build a mount on the roll cage. Bruce put that there so he could take the buggy down the Baja and every inch counted. Weclome to the site and nice buggy by the way. Where are you located?

Thank you for the information and the pictures of the bracket. I could make that bracket if I can get a spare to fit with the seat far enough back for me. I'm disassembling the buggy right now for restoration and repainting, and I live in Belton.
