shortening frame vs stretch body

Postby chris6985 » 29 Sun Apr, 2012 3:19 pm

I am in the planning stages of building my first buggy. I got an unfinished project that I am looking to complete and was wondering about stretching the body as opposed to shortening the Vw frame. Has anyone had any experience with this or have any idea what that would like or any comments on this.

There have been a few that have tried to stretch the body with varying degrees of success. It is only fiberglass. Do a search on the Samba as I think that is where you'll find more info. If you have mad glassing skills it should not be too much of a problem. The trick is making the transition disappear so you cant tell where it was done. Give Hawkeye buggys a call for one of their badass chassis. You wont regret it.

Amen! I sure am glad I went that route. Much easier and probably stronger too. :)

MGM Plastics out of California is the place to go for this. Shipping is pretty reasonable
