What are the necessary engine tins for cooling?

Postby mwh986 » 03 Wed Aug, 2011 10:24 pm

In the process of rebuilding a 1500cc (1967) type 1 engine and was wondering what is the required combination of engine cooling tins for a Texas summer?

Looks like I have:
*the fan housing with the generator backing plate,
*both upper cylinder tins (marked 1,2 and 3,4),
*the tin below the crankshaft pulley,
*left & right tin that connects to the upper cylinder tin and the tin below the crankshaft pulley together.

Is this all I need or is there something missing?

The little tins under the cylinders that hooks to the head studs is very important.
Don't need pulley tin.

OK, got em!

I missed them in the original inventory. They are on the bottom of the jugs bridging them together.

Thanks,

In addition to the smaller bottom tin, is the larger lower semi wrap around tin required?

Looks like item #6, 9 & 10. On the bottom I only have #'11, one on each side. Are these tins an addition to newer engines?
