trans swap

okay, i have an old split case trans (complete, i have a tunnel type swing arm tranny without the axles or tubes. can i use the axles and tubes from the boat anchor and put them on the more modern tunnel type swing arm transmission?? this is going on a f/glass dune buggy.

I really dont know if it will work,but it want hurt to try. Just use the old parts for a trial fit. Mock it all up and see if it will turn by hand. If it fits clean it up replace the bearings, seals and gaskets and go for spin.If it dont work then you'll have good experince on the next one.
It's EASY.... if you know how.

I'm fairly certain that the tubes are interchangeable. Let us know what you find. If you end up needing different tubes, I've got a few sets around.

thanks for the offer. i have a son at A&M corpus. he'll be a senior next sept.
little as----- goes surfing dang near everyday. now he wants my buggy. to save gas. yeah right. i was born in the morning but not this morning
