pan question

Just bought a buggy thats on a 63 pan.I really wanna a 73 and up trans for the 3.88 gear.Would it be easier to just swap pans? I have access to a 73 pan. I can weld so shortening wont be Terrible. Want to build a buggy capable for highway cruising.

just change over to irs trans.
you would have to weld the brackets for the rear arms from the irs pan and change spring plates.
