Bearing placement ?

Postby Aquabuggy » 01 Wed Feb, 2006 9:42 pm

I'm trying to mock up my new 2x3 trailing arms. I've got new bearings but can't remember which bearing goes on which side of the bearing housing. One of the bearings has ball bearings and the inner race will not come off, the other is more like needle bearings and the inner race slides out. Looked in my hanes manuel, says leave this too professionals (ha).

I am at the same stage, but not with mock up, but rather final assembly...

When I went to the counter to get some, he said they were 15 bucks a piece! Is that right? I lost all my shortcuts on my PC, so I have no idea who sold me what...

Also, when he put them on the table, they appeared to be different sizes... so, are they?

thanks!

Carlos, I got mine from Bug-E wharehouse in S.A. they are kinda pricy but have fast service and everything in stock.
The inner bearing 12.72ea outer 24.07ea I guess 15.00ea is not so bad.
They appear to be the same size, Ill look again to be sure.

I don't believe that this forum should be for advertizing, but to make sure that Carlos doesn't get a lot of flack over his link to my web site page, I would like to set the record right about the price of bearings.
The inner bearings for IRS was sold to him for $5.46 each as they were newer replacements, and the outer bearings were sold to him for $7.82 each as per our conversation.
However, the pries of the parts change almost on a daily basis, and if you don't believe me just ask anyone who is in this business. When I reordered the replacement of these bearings,.....yep, you guessed it they went up again.
This means that aircooledparts now has the bearings for $6.46 each for the inner bearings, and $9.04 for the outer bearings.
The good news is that the price of the axle seal kits is stable at the moment, so they are $1.58 each.
I apologize for any misunderstanding this may have caused,......so, OK, I got caught without the proper price on the web.....believe me, I'm trying to keep up and it will all be staight soon.
Again, I don't want to be advertizing on the forums, but I didn't want Carlos to look like he didn't know what he was talking about!

OK!!!! When something is the cheapest, it is not well made or of decent quality. And it doesn't fit well either.......I prefer the politically correct term of "economicaly prudent"! LOL!
