Red urethane steering box biscuit

Postby Jack Duncan » 16 Fri Jan, 2009 1:00 am

I have a slight deviation of about 3 or 4 degrees in my steering column in relation to the steering box shaft. Is this going to eventually destroy the flex biscuit? (For lack of a better term.) I should've engineered a U-joint setup but didn't. Put my mind at ease guys. :? :?

I guess I didn't realize you could adjust the steering box up or down. I just went out to look at it and all I could say was "cool". Thanks for the info. But this will have to be followed up with a drag link adjustment, won't it? It won't be moved very much though. :D

I just pulled the steering box off and noticed the locking pins on the beam that won't allow the box to rotate. I guess I'll just leave it in that position and keep and eye on it. I could remove the pins, but then the box could be free to rotate if the bolts got loose. It might be safer not to mess with it. I have determined that the misalignment is due to the shims behind the lower beam. If the alignment is corrected, the hole for the column in the bulkhead will have to be elongated thus an open gap. :?

You do know if you swap the clamp around the position is different huh? It has a gap on both sides of the clamp.

Pins are not important I run a aluminium beam
and they don't have pins at all.

Bryan, go to the Member's Projects and look at my steering. Tell me if I should even worry about it. :)
