The piece of tape and eyeball method works well.

Tape the gaskets to the body....step back...eyeball..adjust...do that until you are satisfied. You will find that these bodies are not perfectly symmetrical. EYE BALL

I have used one of the new laser light levels to establish a line across the car. I used the top of the motor hump to reference off for the light and then made measurements off it accordingly. Seemed to work better than the old paper patterns where you flip the pattern side to side to try to get the lights the same on both sides. Might place masking tape on the laser line and then work off that line.
