New Graffeo Tranny

Postby David Head » 28 Mon Jan, 2008 10:58 am

I just picked up my new tranny from Ricky Graffeo this weekend. This was the tranny that I won at the Buggy Blast last year. If I understand Rick correctly, It has the stock 412 rack and pinion with a .82 final gear.
So technically it's a freeway flyer. Maybe now I can keep up with SteveO on the highway.

I talked to Ricky about this years Blast, and he has agreed to donate another "Stock" Tranny for a raffle. Any upgrades like my freeway flyer are extra.

Ricky Graffeo is one of our sponsors. We appreciate all of them (the sponsors) and without their help, it would be hard to have this great club.
lets keep them in mind when shopping for parts or service.

(just wanted to add. Graffeo does not include shipping either. However you get it to your house is up to you. admin)

David, I think the later model transmissions with the 3.88 ring & pinion are the ones that are referred to as "freeway flyer".
So you still may not be able to keep up with Steve O. :(
But hey anyone that can keep up with Steve O. must be nuts

I agree with ya our sponsors are the best.

David, with the 4.12 and 82 fourth you got the best of both worlds. 4.12 to maintain acceleration in the lower gears and the overdrive .82 4th.

Assuming 28 inch tires, that thing is going to loaf at 70...2840 rpm.
75...3040, 60...2432

Should be like shifting into 5th gear on a regular car.
