Let me ask a crazy question. Is there a reason why buggy frames cannot be galvanized?

Not that I know of, other than expense and some place to do it. You would want to make sure all work was done and you never wanted to weld anything on it again. Welding galvanized metal is very bad for ya.

I would think that powder coating would provide the same protection of the metal and it is a lot prettier finish for appearances. It is probably cheaper too.

I read on one of the forums that some guys in the phillipines were having their pans galvanized and were now getting 5 to 6 servicible years from their buggies before repairing the pans. Prior to that the pans would only last 1 to 2 years in the salty beach sand environment.

If you have galvanizing equipment that can do something that large go for it. It won't be as pretty as paint or powder coating but it should last many years on the gulf coast.

Powdercoating would work in coastal conditions, if you use the proper:

blasting
baking
zink primer
powercoat (X2)

that'll work.

If in Texas, talk to Paul at Protective Powder Coatings in Corpus Christ,

(361) 851-2001

if ANYONE knows your question, it's him..he does (literally) TONS of powdercoating for the U.S. Navy (now THAT'S beach/sand environment)
you must have pride....in your ride....
