trans swap question

Postby Aquabuggy » 14 Sat Jul, 2007 5:18 pm

Im swapping the 3 rib trans in my buggy for a 6 rib and not sure which pressure plate to use.
Also how much does the input shaft need to be cut to work with my type 1 engine?

6 rib trans-has the sleeve inside the throw out bearing

3 rib trans has no sleeve

So do I use this style pressure plate with a ring on pressure plate fingers

Or this style no ring

Thanks

If the transmission has the guide sleeve, you use the pressure plate without the ring. Also, that appears to be a casting flaw line, not a crack!
I hope this helps!
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!

Nope, this one came from a bus I got from Ricky K. The other one that you got for me is going in the long body buggy. I cant wait to get started on it.
You buggy's looking sharp! Got it on the road yet?

Well adjusted the shifter and some other stuff, then went for a test run and ran out of gas. :x I guess fixing the fuel gauge is next on the list.
For some reason Ive had the worst luck with fuel gauges, Aquabuggy never worked rite, changed the sender twice and gauge once. Now Orangebuggy has new VDO stuff worked for a week then quit.
I don't think Ill use one on the long buggy go with a center fill tank and just pop the cap look in.
