Paint Ideas

Postby Russhebert » 08 Thu Jun, 2006 5:48 pm

Hello everyone. Boy was the blast just great? I am Russell with the Mello Yello buggy that was on the end at the show, and I am looking for members help. I want to have something painted on the front hood, but I just don't know. I am asking for ideas. While I have the floor here I would like to thank all the new friends we met during the blast. It made my first outing with the club a very enjoyable one. I caint make the Arkansas run but I hope to see everyone soon. A special thanks to Neil Decker, because with out his help I would not have made it. :D

I haven't seen your buggy, do you have a pic? Usually a crest or hood pic is a personal decision, but I'd like to see it before I recommend anything! 8-)

I realy liked the moon eyes and pinstiping on the the other yellow buggy
as well as the green manx
I am not a big fan of hood murals although I have seen some awsome
art on cars it just dosent seem to look right on a hood though.
your car is realy clean I think a coustom stripe job would be my choice
find a couple colors you like and go to town
my 2 cents

If you are not sure about an idea, talk to a sign shop and have them cut some vinyl and install that. The colors are almost limitless, and if you don't like it you can remove it with a lot of heat and some elbow grease! A friend of mine has a shop, and we change the graphics on my MINI about every couple of months or so. Its almost like getting a new car every so often. On top of that it helps get my buddy some business.
Get out there and enjoy your Dune Buggy! www.savethetexasdunebuggy.com faron@savethetexasdunebuggy.com

Hey Russell,
I'm Tom from Baton Rouge, the guy with the yellow buggy with the blue pinstriping you mentioned in your post. Like you I wanted something on the nose as well but wasn't sure what. I finally decided to approach a vinyl graphics shop and designed what I have. If you are not sure vinyl is a great way to expiriment. If you find you don't like it, it's easy to remove unlike paint. It's relativly cheap as well compaired to paint. Just a thought!
Unlike mine, your hood has a couple or ridges in it. You might try designing something around those. Natural body lines and such make for interesting areas to accent. I'm not a big fan of large graphics or flames or such but I do like a little "nose art" that makes a mild statement.
Good Luck and you have a very nice buggy by the way. When you decide post some pics.
Good Luck,
Tom

I'm like Murzi and Carlos. I think your car looks great just the way it is. If you are going to paint something on the hood then I would agree with Tom. Work with the ridges on your hood. I have always favored well done pinstripping.
