rocker arms

well while i am hear at work bored to death till midnight i am going to keep asking questions as i can think of them. i was wonder about the different ratio rocker arm sets that are available. i was told by a freind who is a vw nut and porsche master tech that he ran the 1.4 and 1.25 and they gave him more trouble and problems than they were worth in his experience. it was on a 1641 engine and i believe a 2032 engine. just wondering if this is just a waste of money or a worth while expense. remeber we are talking the most bang for the buck while still being streetable and relaible.
