I initially heard about some tolerance and clearance problems when they first came out. But I haven't heard anything similar lately after production got into full swing. I know that Hot VW's did an article on them and liked them. They put out slightly more power than a comparable Weber. Sorry for the non-answer. We run a single Weber 40 on our 1776 for offroad so duals should work fine, just use more gas.

If you are talking about the Kadrons, they fit fine! The duals clear and the new singles are really neat. They are now availible with electric chokes too!
They have the single 40mm for engines up to 1776cc and a new single 44mm for up to 1914cc.
The dual 40's will pull anything up 2000cc!
So, you have three choices, and I'm a WD for EMPI!

so they ran great out of the box with no fiddling with them or cleaning them? cool thats what i was hoping for since hot vw said they were as good or better than the originals for much less. would 44's be to much for a built 1776? i was just thinking about down the road if i go to a bigger motor i would already have a bigger carb so i wouldnt have to buy another set.

No, dual 44's are not too much for such an engine, but you have to keep the venturies to a reasonable size if you want the drivability. I assume you are talking about the dual 44 webers, right?

Get a good set of IDF's. You could get 44's and choke the vents down for the 1776 and then open them up later when you bigger. Buy the IDF's , real IDF's, and cry once. They seem pretty easy to tune----so far. HEHEHE

yea the dual 44's. yea i hear that on the crying part, man they are proud. the only place that seems pretty reasonable is that serranos place on the samba. i think they are 600 sumthin for the brand new widf kit. i also found a guy on ebay that supposedly flow test them to your specs before shipping them, only prob is he is in italy..... whew roadtrip here we go...

When I bought my donor bug I also bought a 1500 Single port with it. I was thinking of getting it running until I get the Corvair motor ready. How slow is this little thing going to be? Is there any way to make this 1500 into something cool, or will always be longing for more. Wishing I had not spent so much money in it and waited for the Corvair.

I think you will be suprised at how fast a stock 1500 will move your buggy. It is all about power to weight. Get it going now, switch to Covair later. Sounds like a winter project.

my dad used to talk about corvairs and corvair spyders all the time. i think what the spyder had like 110 or 140 hp stock with no hotrod stuff on it. from what i am finding out you have to do more work on a vw to get that kind of power and i would think a corvair would run cooler since you get that kind of power with out a bunch of heat generating mods
