Y'all Getting Out?

Postby Ken » 18 Sat Jan, 2014 4:48 pm

Took Crazy Alice for a liitle ride today.
She hadn't been run good since last Sept for Round Up. :|
She run good and she got tons of attention at the Wimberley square.
she still smoking out the breather box. Prolly worse than at the Round Up. Guess we'll upgrade her with some 1641 cans. Better get that frontend on to, before Bryan kicks my ass. ?

What y'all doing to y'alls buggy's?

I blew off the cobwebs and brought my buggy out of the garage and tried to get the buggy started to no avail... I initially thought it was the battery because it was 5 years old and the trickle charge over night did not work either.

Then on to the solenoid. Almost got the starter off and my friend came over and asked me to try and start it and...click. My friend said it was the battery and I told him that it is brand new. No, he said, the battery cable. To be more specific, the negative cable was corroded.

The fix: Cut the negative wire back and reconnect it to the battery. Later I will get a new wire...

Now I have been cruisin to dinner on nice nights this last week and this weekend cruisin the town.

Yes, we are gettin out!

Getting out every decent weather day and interesting enough..when I was driving around I noticed the car was sputtering at times and thought that my gas had too much moisture in it. I did a general tune-up and pulled my big-cap Bosch distributor to change the points and found the little green wire that runs from the points to the coil was barely hanging on by a strand. 6 volt likes a good conductor so I cut and re-installed a heavier wire through the wall of the distributor, hooked everything up, and runs great. If I would have broken down, it would have taken me a while to figure that one out!

I'll be taking mine to Schulenburg next weekend for a german car show. Should be a good turn out. It does not stay at home as I am renovating the garage with ceramic tile and an in ground lift.

I got out for a while today. Still working out some minor bugs with my ride. Took my wife for her first ever ride around the back roads between Highland Village and Corinth then back to the Sonic for a Coke. She's hooked!! Have a good week everyone!!
