All of the single carb setups, require some form of preheat to the carb, or they tend to ice up the intake manifold. This takes place whenever the outside temperature hits 52 deg. or lower.
The new EMPI carbs have the electric chokes, and they come in two sizes, they are the kadrons. The 40mm Kadron will pull up to 1776 cc., and the new 44mm kadron will pull up to 1900cc. I would still recomend that an air cleaner with the preheat be fabed, just to ward off the icing problems.
The single webers, do not have the chokes and tend to be trouble when you first start the engines.
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!
