Manxter (first scratch)

Postby Patrick » 04 Sat Feb, 2006 11:45 pm

Well got my first real scratch on my Manxter today. We were pulling out the rollbar so I could paint it and it scratched the inner part of the body. That sucked big time. It's at least under the dash though so it's going to get covered up with carpet when I get done with it so you won't see it. It won't be the first scratch on it though. Just as long as I can keep the outside scratch free will be good.

Any other stories of anyone else messing up their buggy body when putting it together...?

If you've visited my website, you know that blue painter's tape is my best friend....tape is cheaper than paint!!

I have three scratches already one on the front passenger fender will cover easy with some touch up and two inside the body that should be covered by seats and what not

I built it to drive it. notice the signature.

besides I plan on redoing it in two or so years.

Patrick,

Same thing happened to me.

Try an old sweat sock or golf sock on each leg. Be sure to tape them up or they may pull off.

First scratch always sucks.

I hear ya
mine got scratched on the rear area where the bar goes in also

heers a funny story kinda
for those that know me I built a cover to go over the top of my 16 ft trailer to tow the car on I was so proud of the new cover a feew weeks
later I went to put the car on the trailer and took a real good look at the set up
man it was close only a 1" between the fender and inner support of the cover need less to say i got it in whew
after a few trips I went to unload one show and BAM the car had shifted during transport and had been sitting on the bar RUBING
after a few choice words about its mother I got the car out and begain to
feel the pain a 1/2" area had rubed thru to the fiberglass
oh touch up paint where are you
the next day I cut that puppy out and havent seen it since

check it the next show its hid pretty good LOL
