I have been down way to long!

Postby Buggy1 » 02 Thu Feb, 2006 12:24 pm

 Ok, I have to tell this on myself cause I know it will get around.

After over thirty years of driving I got a ticket just before I had surgery ( needed to get the final prep for surgery and the wife could not get off to take me ). Not really a big deal but I thought if I explained the reason I was not really paying attention ( due to the pain of my chest ) I would at least get maybe a reduction in the cost.

Well the Judge scolded me for being older and setting a bad example. not listening to me at all he told me that I would have to pay the full price and then pay $99 foor defensive driving. I told Him that I wanted to do the thing that lets you go on probation for 6 months cause I don't have another $99 for the driving course.

After lecturing loudly me for ten minutes ( in front of everyone ) about what a bad example I was he ended by saying "You will be on probation for 6 months, you can not get a ticket anywhere else in the world."
I thought a minute and reply " I appreciate the information and I promise to be really careful when driving at high speed across the Atlantic so I will not hit a F##$$%%ing whale" The whole court room burst into laughter which set the judge off even more.

I got to pay for it so I got my word in.

Guess I need to get out more

Yup, good going, but my reply would have been. " Your Honor, you have stated once before that I am a bad example, in one sentence. What is your intention with a 10 minute repetative scolding? Also sir, I cannot get a ticket around the world? What makes you think that your local or county bench has rule or jurisdiction over laws and policies in other countries? After this, I'm going to Mexico and drive 200mph..and there is NOTHING you can do about it, except pout and whine"
you must have pride....in your ride....

One for ya

Postby Texasbuggys » 02 Thu Feb, 2006 1:52 pm

I had a close experience, a few years ago, about 25 or so, I was a little on the speed additicion side and had a few motorcycles and lived close to Austin for a few years, well to make a long story short I racked up 17 tickets of the assortment of speeding, racing, verticle wheelstand, excessive speed, reckless driving and lastly exhibition of speed in a mere 10 month period. My attorney loved me and after several visit to the same judge and probabtion, he proudly ruled he wanted my liscene more than me. I kindly turn them over to him and was dismissed from the couthouse where I went out side, talked to my lawyer and told him thanks for trying but I had a party to get to so I fired up my motorcycle and rode off. A few days later while heading down to the river for a little R&R and some cold beverages I see this car along side the road with the hood up and it is about 115 degrees out and it looked like an old man under the hood so I stopped to help him out. To my surprise, yep it was my favorite Judge! He did not recogonze me at first and I was like, I need to get the heck out of here. I quickly told him hey I need to be on my way when he asked for a ride to a local store so he could wait for his wife to pick him up. So I helped him out and took him to the store and dropped him off, he kindly thanked me and I was on my way thinking man that was close. To my surprise about 5 days later I received a summons to appear in court, yep same judge. Reason, driving with suspended licesene. Went to count and he extened the time of suspension due to him seeing me driving, he was his own witness. I could not believe it and when he asked if I had anything to say for myself, I simply turned, smiled and said to the crowded room, don't ever pickup this old ass hole if he is broke down! Thanks for hearing my side of the story. Everyone busted out laughing and he told them to escort me out of his court room that he was appauled by my actions. Oh well, I walked out feeling like I at least earned my punishment that time.

Ok, here's one! The wife and I got called to jury duty on the same day, in the same county, and ending up in the same court for the same case....it was a wife beating case!!!
When the lawer ask me if I would treat my wife like any other woman I knew, I said no. When he ask me to explain, I told him if you got one who will wash your clothes, cook your food, and clean your house.....then still try to smile when you get home, you should treat her better.
Well, that seemed to satify him until he looked three pages down and saw the wife's name, so he stopped and came back to me and ask if "I felt compelled to answer the question like that because I knew she was setting two rows behind me?"
I looked him right in the eye and ask....."do I look like I'm "P" whipped to you?"
The judge threw the morning news paper down (wgich he was reading)and cleared the court room and almost threw me in jail for contempt. When I went back outside, the wife ask me what had happened, and I told her that I felt that the judge, baliff, and both lawers, must not like their wives too much.
Needless to say, when I got started, I ended up telling them that there were only ten laws, and if everyone followed those, that all of them would be looking for a real job!
While outside the court room, the bailif and I got into it because I couldn't hear what he was saying, and I informed him that he would probably be able to talk louder, if he wasn't caring that two hundred ugly extra pounds on his gut! Which would be possible, if he would quit eating all of the donuts!
Oh, I got out of jury duty that day!
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!

That's another reason to make it to Salado. To meet everybody that you have been talking to over the Net. I joined this group almost 4 years ago. An like some of you, I knew everyone on the computer but not in person. So it was really great to be able to put a face with a name that first buggy Blast. Now I look forward to going back every year to see old friends and make new ones. Hope to make a lot of new friends this year. See ya. David
