Sigh..I always like to brag. If I bought them new from the factory, my seats will cost over $9000.00. Yup, 9 grand. 9K.

Ok ok, I know, annoying.

I have seats from an acura NSX, black leather, with tilt and forward/back controlled automatically. YAY. Who else has power seats?

I got 'em off of an NSX forum, someone was selling them because they got SPARCO's for the ride..I got them both for 500 bucks! :D

And they are cool and they fit good too. Darn comfortable to boot.

how did you know they would fit? or were you going to make them fit no matter what.

I have found that there are not to many seats that will fit in my buggy.

Truth be told, I bought the seats BEFORE I bought the buggy, but I did have a buggy in mind...Yeah, they would HAVE TO FIT, no matte what...

remember, i said they tilt, and such.......the bottom of the seat sits about 1/4 inch from the pan, very low seats, and the bolsters really work...here are links to a pic of em...

Yes! Woooo hoo! Again, I got the seats before the buggy project, but man, I'm not sure my butt is worth sitting on ANYTHING worth that much! heee! I guess they went up from $4535.24 each to $5363.13.

I THINK my seats were from a 2002, and I THINK in 2003 they went to perforated leather center sections... mine is all solid leather.. I've seen the updated leather kits for a few hundred dollars on E-bay now and then, and I may get a set, as the perofated leather may help with a heated seat kit... ;-)

Remember, the new Acura NSX, MSRP is 90,000..youch!!!!

I'm about to start the upholstery phase of my car, so I have to make a decision soon about seats. I have a pair of early Mustang seats that fit nicely, but will be reupholsterd. Before I commit, any suggestions on what seats might fit in a buggy? I spent a good while at salvage yards today, and couldn't find anything narrow enough. When you include the mechanisms on the side, everything seemed to be about 21".

Some early Porsche seats fit nicely, and I THINK someone once mentioned miata seats? All I know is the deeper the seat, the safer...personally I think even using the stock seats and rails are a bit too high...but, that's just me..I'd rather my shoulder be at the level of the buggy's side, instead of my rear....

but, that's just me

has anyone pounded the tunnel at all to accomidate seats?

Mine are Retro Mustang seats out of a catalog. They came with sliders but I had to modify them to lower them about 3 inches.

I have Fiero seats. Had to make 2 " risers to get them at a reasonable height. They just barely slide back far enough. Miata and MR2 seats are supposed to be good fits. Also PRP seats which you can get through Hawkeye or Doug at Qualitat are narrow and comfy. :D

I have Toyota MR2 seats, bought them used with sliders and Ricky King helped me make brackets to bolt down to the pans.

After you check into the price of Re-upholstery (unless you have friend in the business) I would order new seats. I found some good seats at a wrecking yard, but after they qouted me 2 to 3 hundred dollars each to re-upholsery the seats, I bought new ones. Like Greg said Try Hawkeye or Qualitat. They both can get PRP seats. David

Just happened to realize...you have a Manxter right? Full length pan. We've all been giving you info regarding issues with finding comfy seats that'll fit a shortened pan. I think you could go with darn near anything. Look for comfort. The PRP are comfy as are the MR2 and others mentioned here. You'll have more choices than us shortened chassis guys to.... :?

I bought the seats from Qualitat also. Compared to those hard plastic seats I had in the previous buggy, these are great. They are so comfortable, sometimes I make the wife mad so she will kick me out of the house which gives me a reason to go out and sit in them.

I've seen those seats and they're generic racing seats, If I'm not mistaken they are too large to fit in my dune buggy.

Seats

Postby garthom » 05 Sun Feb, 2006 12:28 am

I bought a pair of Beard seats (Super Seats) Last April from Mckenzies Performance for $389.90. Shipping to Illinois was $39.00. Nice seats. Wife sure wishes I would get them out of living room!

Sparco does have a 19" highback seat for around $170.00 each. I have a pair in our buggy.

You shouldn't have to modify the seats to make them fit, the seats have all kinds of mounting brackets availible for them and the brackets unbolt from the seats with four bolts. You would probably want to get the mounts for the Ghia models, maybe that would help.
If at first you don't succeed, beat the pshaw out of the business partner, and then go at it alone! LOL!

All I had to do was make risers for them. The stock Fiero tracks sit really low...too low for me. I made the risers out of 2"square tube. Those are attached to the pan an dthe seats to the risers.

After looking in a lot of cars at salvage yards I finally found some seats that fit nicely in my buggy. They are from a '95 Pontiac Sunfire.
It's going to cost $150 ea. to get them reupholstered.

A picture of the seats is in my photo gallery.
