dual sport....?

Hey guys....tryin to nail down exactly what to do with the new project. thinking dual sport for a little light offroad and trail riding to beside cruisin the streets. Can anybody tell me where there is within a 1 - 3 hr radius of houston that has some trails, offroad area, or in Kansas we used to ride the nice shallow river beds all day. If you know of any of these area please let me know, as I am nailing down the exact direction of this build.
