Headlight mounting bases

Postby 167luckycharm » 19 Wed Dec, 2007 1:00 am

A Hawaiian MAHALO (thank you in Hawaiian language) going out to Johnny Bridges for an exceptional deal on a pair of bases. I just finished installing them on my buggy this evening and they look absolutely sweet! The original stamped steel mounting rings that were part of the Signature Manx kits from Y2K just could not handle the weather. The chrome started to rust through, to the point where it started to corrode the bottom of the headlight buckets. I coated the tops and bottoms of the mounts with paste wax, cleaned off the rust and painted the steel pieces with gloss black paint. After the paint dried, the buckets were installed and rewired. I still have to install the headlights after I machine a set of screws for the retaining rings. The steel nuts and bolts started to get corrosion showing through the chrome too. I'm making them out of stainless steel. I'm really happy with these and I'm sure the buggy is gonna be happy too. It's a little Christmas gift I could not resist for it.
Thanks again Johnny B!
I'm glad you like the candied Macadamia nuts too.
Aloha!
