can I change napoleon head and hat

Postby bugbitten » 30 Thu Oct, 2014 7:39 am

I have a 75 super beetle and want to change the napoleon head and hat to convert to standard front end. I have title issues with my other vw's. the 75 super beetle has a good title. any experience with this conversion anyone. I have a full shop and 26 yrs as a body man and plasma cutters and welders and car lift.

Are you going with a shortened pan? If so you have to cut it in half anyway, keep the rear you want and use a standard front.

Yes you can replace the front of a super with the napoleon hat, and king & link beam from your early bug. Lots of aligning required.
And yes you can stretch the body. Here's a link to some examples...and thoughts http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=539395. Again, lots of work to get it right. I know funds are tight, and if I read right you're somewhat time critical... you might consider a MGM plastics or other already made long body. You may even find one in these classifieds http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/cat.php?id=19
