4 seat rail build

Postby Aquabuggy » 26 Fri Jun, 2009 10:14 pm

Well I'm back at it!
Ive been busy for the last 8 months remodeling a rental property, man I'm so sick of that place.
Anyway after starting on the little green rail I soon realized that little sucker just wasn't gonna cut it we were gonna need something bigger.
So it had to find a new home and I did what I should have done long ago.
Here it is the 4 seat rail Chrissy has wanted for so long.
Image
So far it features a custom adjustable torsion and trailing arms from Custom Buggy Parts and will soon have a 6" over custom beam as well.

Here's a shot of the adjustable torsion

be at the round up.

ChrisK. You got that rite ya gotta keep em happy. Hows your buggy coming along is it on the road yet?

Bryan, Its about 114" with stock trailing arms but they will be getting swapped out with 2.5x2.5s this weekend. Not sure on the engine Ive got a couple to choose from a 2110 I was planning to put in my green buggy maybe use it or swap it and run the 1915 in the rail or I also have a stock 1600 sp sitting on the shop floor.
No plans to have it ready for the round up, probably be a slow build its just too hot to knock it out that fast.

David, I know you've got that rite! She has been waiting long enough I just hope she likes it when its all said and done.

Nice rail Chris, me and Troy talked about coming over tonight but been too busy to get there, having to re-do my jig for the matter special, taking some doing but the beam and rear torsion should be in tommorrow and then can really start going together with it. Like the layout they built in it. Who was the rail frame builder? Nice work on it.

Chris, I think the welds are all defective and unsafe. I'll be happy to take it off your hands so you can buy something else  8-)

Looks like a good start and should be lots of fun.

Sorry for the slow reply, we've been in Mexico all week.

Bobby, Predator built the frame, they gave me smokin deal even with shipping it was about the same price as a berrien knock down would have been.

BrianB,

Bill, Chrissy is picking the color I told her any color except pink so she picked something else (cant remember the name) Id bet its just a fancy name for pink  you know how women are ;-)

Worked on the rail a little this weekend. Chrissy wanted an expanded metal floor so that's what I'm doing but just in case she has a change of heart at some point, I wanted to bolt it in rather then weld it on which made this job 10 times more difficult.

To avoid having excessive flex I ran some plate around the outside perimeter of the floor and bolted it all together.

Yea, Ive been working on it a little here and there. Ill post up some pics when there is something to look at, so far it's just been fabing up seat mounts and small brackets. The stuff is very time consuming and at the end of the day ya really cant tell anything has been done. :(

OK Ill give ya a shout I'm hoping to find some great big nasty looking meats for the rear. Just hope I remember to call ya, were going to a little family reunion type of deal this evening in Moulton and I'm sure there will be a few alcoholic beverages involved.

Ive been out cruising the Buggy today, replaced the fuel pump and wanted to get a few miles on it before the Blast.
