Michaels new long body mid-travel buggy project

Postby Texasbuggys » 21 Sat Feb, 2009 5:31 pm

Ok folks some of you may have already had a chance to visit with Mike and I have and he is another great guy coming in to the buggy world. He lives in Houston with his wife and their very new born baby.
Image

Well I met Mike just a few short weeks before the baby was born and well ya see he works for the airlines and flys into Victoria pretty often so in a few short e-mail and a few days later, he was bringing me his parts stash he had been accumulating for a sand rail build that did not get off the ground and after he found the club and seen some of the buggys, fiberglass was his choice of build so that leads us up to now. Mike has been picking up a few more needed parts for his buggy project and asked if I would get his build page started and I am sure he will be adding to it as we go with this one and he intends to have one fine machine when completed so I got stay on my toes and make the family ride what they want it to be. So without further mumblings here are just a few of the goodies going into this one.

Love them BTR's, I wanted to run em on my buggy but that would have broken my budget.

Hopin to have a great buggy when I am done. Actually got the BTR's on the Samba and got a GREAT deal. The guy had a couple of no shows and was hard up to sell them. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to either.

Postby Texasbuggys » 14 Sun Feb, 2010 9:59 pm

And in doing so we changed the whole project, went for the low rider, smooth road, slammer style buggy. Pictures to follow.

Onto installing the 3' long rear fox dual rate spring coilovers, this thing has some good mid-travel! 3"x3" rear and about a 5" wider than stock front chromemoly custom cad designed beam with wider, longer front arms and again coil overs.

Yes sir built type 2. But has the 9" flywheel setup so if this breaks the adapter and flywheel are already setup for a mendeola or other real performance tranny.
