That beige interior and cage really work well with your buggy.
Whats going on with the top of the pods?

I trimmed the body so it wouldn't overlap the pods joggle, but it still didn't seat well on the pod. I body filled to make a smooth fit and created my own seam. The filler isn't even 1/4" thick.

Hello Jack That buggy looks good! I wouldn't have ever thought those colors would have ever looked like they belonged on a buggy, but you placed them in such a way they look great. That is going to be a clean buggy .

Great looking buggy ya building there. The colors are different and work very well! The wheel selection also is very cool! Very clean build!

Great look I like the trunk in back.
I think I would line the steering up a little more just to be safe.
What size motor did you build.

Jack,
Great work. Clean, crisp, professional.

One observation...do you have enough "bow" in your bowden tube? It looks a little straight.

Since that picture was taken, I have added more washers to the Bowden tube. I have plenty of bow now.
Bryan, I have a 1915cc engine. I hope to get it fired up soon. :D

And another fantastic Club car coming into the fold.

What an outstanding job you've done, Jack. I especially love the subtle color combination. A real "Head Turner".

Hey guys, did you notice Jack's floor? He built that fine ride, and never got the floor dirty.

Ordered new seats today. The VW seats don't work. Too tall! I even shortened them 2" at the base. Nothing worked after that. Wouldn't recline, go forward or back, and the seat back wouldn't flip forward for easy access to the back. I've gone to Pro90 by Scat.

What a shame. Those seats looked so good. Are you going to upholester the new ones the same color?

Yes, it is called Beige 54. I'm buying extra material (vinyl) to do the rear seat again. I don't know if I'll have the same guy do it. I'm debating. I have to wait until I see the sewn pattern in the new seats to see if he can duplicate it on the rear.
Good hearing from you Bill. :)

I am now finished with the upholstery. It turned out much to my satisfaction. Today I put the cage back in and I'm half done with mounting the seat belts. The cage allows me to use a three point retractable harness. The color matches. I have finished the instrument panel with VDO gauges which is now completely wired into one twelve terminal plug. Gauges are mounted in a red oak insert stained to match the Grant steering wheel. Sorry, I haven't taken anymore pictures, but I'll try to post some soon. :)

If you mean the cloth bikini top, it was made to match the roll cage and shipped with the body. It came from:

Jack, I love your buggy. I agree with the ppl that have already posted they like the color combination. I really makes the car stand out. The more buggies I see that are essentially "street" buggies, the more I rethink my decision to build a dual sport. I have found that building a dual sport requires almost twice as much monetary output as building for one thing or the other.

Back on track; your build looks beautiful, I can't wait to see it in person. Keep it up!

Thanks for the complements! I'm really pleasantly surprised at how well this project is turning out. I'm wondering why I never built one of these. I've known about them since the first Meyers Manx. I can't wait to get it on the street. Tomorrow I plan to get into the meat of the wiring, so look for my questions to start being posted.

Finally got the engine tuned up yesterday and took it out for a test run. It now runs like a scalded ape. I took it to 75 mph and it was steady as a rock. I couldn't believe the response that 1915 cc has.
I bought an enclosed trailer to haul it to those far away places. It's a Pace American 7'x 14'. Brian suggested that size, and it couldn't have been 6" smaller in the width or the rear wheels would hit the door going in. The roll cage clears by 2". The length is OK, I have 1' on each end. Anyway, I'm ready for Salado. (Finally!) :D
