The wifes new long body build!

Postby Texasbuggys » 10 Sun Aug, 2008 11:14 pm

You guys and gals had to do it, get her all stirred up and now look what I have to build! I think it was Chris W. and his wife or maybe Adam and his wife or Bill K or Chris K or Greg R or any of you fine folks. Well I do appreciate your help in getting her into a buggy of her own. One good thing Greg, it is kind of green but a bit flakey!

The yellow one on the back is a local customer and friend that is looking forward to getting his built and attending some events!

Yesterdays work on the permiter chassis

Today, hit the Novemberfest show in Austin, then came back and finished welding out the outside frame, added a few cross supports and a little more here and there work. Welded up all the extra holes on the torsion and capped it off. Next comes the center tubes and combining the front and rear end to make this one a roller.

Going together, need to order some tabs, but to bug tranny mount and a few odds and ends. David O I will be sending you a list soon.

I have been tinkering a bit today

Postby Texasbuggys » 03 Sat Jan, 2009 8:18 pm

Here is where I am today. Built the rear bumper support and rear truss bars for the rear torsion forks. Going to run some steel under the rear seat area to help support it. May start playing with cutting and stretching of the pods tommorrow, just looks to long with out some shape. Oh and measured and wheelbase is stretched out as far as I could reasonable go 99.5" center to center for hopefully a decent ride. Sorry for the dark pics but kept having folks stop by to visit and by the time I thought about taking a picture it was dark. The 33" tires maybe a bit short but we will see. Waiting on flooring still, shifter and e-brake mounts all done.

and just finished this cage for a great guy from Pearland

Postby Texasbuggys » 03 Sat Jan, 2009 8:37 pm

What has been going on here? Well just finished up on a cage for a great guy in Pearland and hope to have him joing the group very soon. His name is Eddie.

Started with a single hoop that was a little to tall and way to far forward.

Image

Removed the old

Image

Modified the original rear hoop as it was in perfect shape, moved it back about 6-7" and lowered it bit over 2" and tied it back into the rear bulkhead.

Image

Then bent up a multiple bend front hoop to both follow the windsheild, then dash, then turn in to clear the body sides as they are narrower than the dash area and once that was done add the two overheads.

It was also really great meeting up with Mike AKA "matter" and working through the details of his project plans, and fellas, he ain't playing!
