chop top

Postby Texasbuggys » 03 Tue Jun, 2008 8:55 pm

Little more progress, lot ya can't see from the pictures but done. Here is the front windsheild surround welding back and almost finished, just a bit more "working it" to do.
Image

Then a little quarter window work to get them just right! Going for the stock squasshed look, I think we are there fella's now to fill re-shape and make it look purdy!

chop

Postby Texasbuggys » 17 Tue Jun, 2008 7:06 pm

Bottom of the oval is now fully welded in and ground down, no putty at all yet, should look pretty good once it gets to the final body work. Package tray may stay or may go, depends on power plant, if VW may loose it still for a tranny raise, we will see.

Postby Texasbuggys » 09 Wed Jul, 2008 3:22 pm

Whew hoo, just got in from San Antonio, and waiting on me was the suicide hinges and hidden pockets, powered bear claw latches, powered safety pin latches and stainless poppers. More fun to come! Pictures later! Oh and thank you Johhny B, your package arrived safe and sound, nice crating job my friend! Even UPS could not break that down!! Thanks again it will look really nice in the car!

Well the front hinges are gone, just need filler pieces and without the door handles, no need for them any longer so filled they are! Next will be the safety pins in case we ever get in a major and the powered bear claws give up the powered stainless steel rods that are about 4" long should not. And both will be fully powered by the push of a button on the remote. Getting closer for body work, but still needs the door tops and a few minor details, just needed the doors to be hung to make sure all gaps look right.

Thanks Adam, your help on the 67 stuff has been very helpfull! See I just did away with the 67 door handles, I also did away with the 67 fenders and scored some 64 ones. I am really excited about it! I can't believe the wife talked me into taking on a long body project with all the others going on! I must be crazy!

Postby Texasbuggys » 18 Fri Jul, 2008 9:54 pm

Here it is original but the oval window was welded in. See the rust holes in the package tray, gotta get rid of that.

Image

Here is the replacement clip

Image

And after with a 67 replacement one welded in. Had a couple of holes from cage in it that will get welded closed.

Inside drivers door issue with door panel mounts at the B Pillar. Note the top half is original location for rear quarter panel upholstery and the bottom part is solution, shorter panels and mounts.

powered bear claw latches

Postby Texasbuggys » 21 Mon Jul, 2008 9:25 pm

They are connected to the inside door pull and can be opened with the pull inside or push remote button and the doors pop open without even touching them.

doors

Postby Texasbuggys » 21 Mon Jul, 2008 9:27 pm

Suicide powered safety pins with manual over ride just in case. These are an added safety feature when suiciding doors in case ya catch something and the door trys to peel off and the bear claws let go the safety pins are not supposed to, they are supposed to keep the doors closed. Safety first.
Again, these will be tied into the remote push button.
