Texasbuggys 1967 Chop Top Bug

Postby Texasbuggys » 20 Tue May, 2008 10:01 pm

Ok guys a little off the buggy topic but not 100%. You see the body came from our own Adam "Vee Dub Nut" pan that is now short and about to have a glass dune buggy body installed on it. Adam, I told ya what I was gonna do with it so hope ya don't freak it being a 67 and all. Just started on this this week. Back still needs to drop a bit.
Here is a little of what is planned,
1.) Wedge chop to keep the quarter windows looking right
2.) Modified Oval Rear Window Clip
3.) 2 Fold Sliding Rag Top
4.) Suicide Doors
5.) Hidden Hinges
6.) Shaved Handles

That is a great one Greg! And yes time is always what we are all short on! Thanks guys, this project is moving along pretty well. I may sell the 74 Type 181 Thing in the shop to make room and get this one finished.

And when chopping this much the rear window almost looks as it has climbed up the roof and becomes a sun roof. So to fix this and still let coolling in. A little chopping and welding took care if this. Almost looks factory which was the plan. Compare and notice how much was actually taken out, this will bring the rear wondow back down on the roof.

Thanks Bill, nah! Remember, I am the winner of the most projects, once they are close, well they gotta go!!! I actually have wanted a chop for so long and know exactly what I want and how I want it and this one will be it, so I may keep this one for a pretty good while! And best part, the wife has never really cared for the Bugs but she is really liking this one a lot so that is always a positive thing. I have been convinced to power it with VW instead of V-8 up front. I am thinking maybe Bryan needs a bigger motor and I can pickup his scrap engine one day!!! :) What do ya think Bryan? LOL

Bobby, one of the guys in our club just put up for sale a complete air ride 66 pan with tranny and five spokes...new tires, powdercoated etc. One of those I am going to build a 30k car, deals. Well two years later.....You know the rest of the story.

If he can come up with a price I will let you know. I offered him 1500    CASH MONEY

It is a nice pan and he has 6k in parts in it. I would love to shorten it 14.5 inches

EDIT: he wants 5k for it.   I told him I never pay for pain and suffering
