I'll keep working on the story but I wanted to get a few pics up. This was an awesome...and tiring trip. David and I flew out to Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon (left 3pm cdt), picked up a rent car and drove to Lone Pine, CA about 5.5 hours WNW of Las Vegas. We arrived at the Best Western around 12:30 am (pdt). We got up about 6am, had a little breakfast, helped Gene and Joseph get the buggies ready, met up with the rest of the gang and took off about 8:30am. First we headed North to Big Pine, then East into the Saline Valley, South down the Valley and finally West back to Lone pine. Day 1 @ 216 miles of the most incredible scenery and buggy fun you can imagine. Saturday we got up and did it again. This time heading up the Lippincott Mine trail and into the Bristle cone forest. Elevation changes went from around 500 feet to over 84oo feet and the buggies ran great. A couple flat tires, a couple of breakdowns, but only one needed to be towed home...what a ride! Gene pulled them about 40 mph on the dirt, complete with switchbacks, potholes, hairpins and lots of dust.... Enjoy the pics, I'll write more later. Oh, a HUGE THANK YOU to the guys, especially Mel land his wife Paulette for mapping out some great cruises and of course Gene and Joseph...our "chauffeurs" It was really great meeting all the gang in CA. I'll quote your Governator.....we'll be back! If anyone else wants to do this, we have an open invite!
