Stacey Bills has been working on his Hawkeye Buggies rail since he picked up the frame in early fall, 2006. It took him about a year to get it together working on it an hour or two at a time after he got off from work. Fabricating, welding, and bolting stuff

I guess one of the hardest things about my build was building and installing the wiring harness. I bought spools of wire, tons of connectors, soldering gun, wire loam and "started from scratch". I didn't realize that I would have ten freakin’ miles of wire in it when I finished. Geeze Louise, what a nightmare.

But I’m on the road now and my wife loves to ride in it. Now that I have finally got it runnin'  titled, licensed, and stickered, it's street legal now! Got about 100 miles on the new engine -2110 stroker, got a few changes and bugs to work out but it runs great. I love it. Next step is tearing down, send the frame for powder coat and have it ready to show by spring 08. That'll happen when it gets too cold to drive it this fall. Until then, as Willy says, "I'm On the Road Again"

together. Stacey continues: I did a lot of trial and error. When I wasn't sure about something I would check all the Dune Buggy sites and forums to see if anyone else was having the same trouble. That helped a lot. I did find out that the rear disc brakes I wanted to use would not fit on my 3x3 boxed trailing arms. So I had to order drum brakes w/drums complete for the rear. I used new parts all the way which is why this thing cost me so freakin' much money!
